Atideinu serves children who are meeting their current social, emotional, and academic needs and are therefore ready to further develop themselves and their relationships with the world around them.

Attendance Makes a Difference

Atideinu is a three-year program. Time and consistency are important in cultivating self-worth and fostering social-emotional development. Children with strong attendance records at Atideinu have the best outcomes.

Atideinu offers two hours of fun and engaging programming, twice a week. We run separate programs for boys and girls.

  • Girls: Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the school year from 4:45 pm – 7:00 pm
  • Boys: Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year from 4:45 pm – 6:45 pm

If I am not for myself, who will be for me?

Ethics of Our Fathers 1:14

Within the framework of Torah values and rabbinic guidance, Atideinu nurtures five social-emotional competencies:

  • Self-awareness
  • Self Management
  • Social Awareness
  • Relationship Skills
  • Responsible Decision Making

…And if I am for myself alone, what am I?

Ethics of Our Fathers 1:14

Along with self-development themes, Atideinu helps its participants appreciate the benefits and responsibilities of being part of a community.

Interactive Learning

At every Atideinu session, we explore a spiritual value and a connected self-development value related to the Jewish calendar. Take a look at our lesson plan videos to learn more about how we integrate character development and research-based social-emotional learning methods.

All daily activities illustrate aspects of the monthly themes to help children understand the ideas and incorporate them into their attitudes and outlook. Here are some examples. See our Instagram for more!

What to Expect

We set children up for success by making sure they know what to expect. Each child receives the Program Handbook which sets forth the purpose of Atideinu, the program expectations, and the daily schedule.

At Atideinu, we maximize teachable moments by issuing Middos Mentions to validate and commend children for their social and emotional strengths. We recognize Middos Mention accomplishments at parties throughout the year. See more.

Time out

Sometimes children struggle with meeting the needs that are expected from them. Those times are great learning opportunities. Staff will intervene and help the child identify what they are having a hard time with and what alternatives they can choose. If repeated, Atideinu follows a set three-strike system designed to help children identify and use their resources to have a better day.

Daily Schedule

After a long day of school, Atideinu’s schedule includes time to unwind, snacks, group activities, and supper.

4:45 pm – 5:15 pm: Down Time/Relaxing

After a warm welcome, children can transition with books, games, activities, or helpful tasks.

5:15 pm – 5:35 pm: Snack Time

We sit around the table to reconnect and enjoy a healthy snack.

5:35 pm – 6:30 pm: Daily Activity

Atideinu’s activities help children learn about themselves. Take a look at our sample lesson plans and videos to see some of the innovative things we do to drive home our monthly themes.

6:30 pm – 7:00 pm: Supper

Supper is served family-style, so there’s an opportunity for more conversation. Additionally, our children learn and implement table manners and appropriate socialization during meal times.
